HISTORY & EVOLUTION

Starting with our first project over 30 years ago, RD Pipeline has grown from humble beginnings through hard work. With an honest work ethic, our family-run business continues to expand and evolve.

BUILDING A FOUNDATION

R&D Pipeline started in 1985 in the family basement of Cameron “Don” Ross accompanied by two other partners. It was always Don’s dream to run his own business. His father had worked with Chrysler Corporation for many years and Don learned how hard work powered the business world. Don always said, “If you’re honest and tell the truth, you’ll get the work.”

DON ROSS - FOUNDER

Don Ross’s 50 years of experience in the pipeline business started after he graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. Starting with only a few employees, Don earned the respect of both his employees and clients through perseverance, vision and drive. RD Pipeline has grown to 45 employees and continues to evolve while keeping Don’s hard working approach at the company’s center.

ONE TEAM, ONE VISION

As a professional engineer both in civil engineering and chemical engineering for over 50 years, Ross had the vision and work ethic that was needed to compete in Denver. The company opened its doors with Don Ross as the single foreman, along with one pipelayer, one equipment operator and $10,000.

DAN ROSS - PRESIDENT

Dan Ross is president of RD Pipeline and the oldest son in the Ross family. He joined his father in the business at the company's inception in 1985. Dan started out as a laborer, learning carpentry, pipe laying and heavy equipment operation in the field. After school and a 4-year enlistment in the US Navy, Dan returned to RDP in 1994 as a form carpenter, moving up to foreman and eventually joining the management team in 1995. Dan has been the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) director at large since 2011. Today, he is the president of RD Pipeline and runs the overall business with help from his sister and father.

AMANDA WOODS - CFO

Amanda Woods, daughter of Don and Judy Ross, joined RD Pipeline in 1993 as a part-time bookkeeper. Today, she is responsible for RDP’s financial operations, HR management, office management and much more. Over the past 21 years, Woods has helped the business grow from eight employees to 45. In addition to operational management, Woods keeps up to speed on constantly changing laws, regulations, policies and procedures to comply with industry requirements. She graduated from UNC in 1985 with a degree in Psychology.

NAME CHANGE - RD PIPELINE

Today RD Pipeline has 45 employees, with equipment capable of running five crews and a concrete crew; six office/administration staff; three estimators and a superintendent.

TODAY

Though our services have not changed significantly in over 30 years in business, RD Pipeline has evolved with the best equipment available and employees that have been with the team since the beginning. Today, RD Pipeline remains committed as ever to our superior industry reputation.

RD Pipeline’s knowledge of local jurisdictional requirements has always been a huge help to avoid pitfalls. Safety is paramount and RDP has always operated their projects for us in a safe manner. They constantly exceed our high expectations and they continue to excel. I would highly recommend RD Pipeline for any utility project.
